Quick Draw Exercises to develop your drawing abilities
Hidden Depths
Supplies
paper, pencil, dark pen or marker
Instructions
Keeping your drawing hand and arm off the paper find a comfortable grip on the pencil. Your arm should move freely guiding the pencil. Start filling the page with a meandering continuous line. DO NOT lift the pencil from the paper this is one fluid line that crosses over itself and tangles up slowly covering the whole page. Don’t stop until the page is fairly dense and covered with your single wandering line.
Now, look at the resulting scribble. Try finding the images and patterns hidden within it. You may discover faces, animals, buildings, or other objects.
Use a dark pen and outline these images as you find them within the scribbled page. Try changing your perspective as you hunt for the hidden pictures, turn the page sideways or upside down.
