My Garden Path – Julie Gilmore
Nov 1st, 2007 by Artsy
Traveling around Australia and working in gardens have joined together to make the person I am now – an artist who loves her country and the natural beauty of life. Paintings of flowers and Australian landscapes now give me peace. I have been forced to stand still, but, I can continue to visit my two great loves, through my paintings!
After completing her HSC, Julie took off and explored – covering three states of Eastern Australia, working as a Jillaroo, Governess, waitress, bar maid, seasonal fruit harvester and as an Advertising Rep. However her most consistent and reliable employment stemmed from the environment of her childhood – Gardening! 23 years of tending to private and public gardens created the most natural resource for her. The simple beauty, colours and textures of nature’s antidepressants are what she loves.

For the experienced and inexperienced gardeners of the world – her permanent gardens fill the void during the colourless winter months and those tricky bare patches in anyone’s garden. These portable murals can be hung inside or out, hung on fences, walls, pergolas, kitchens and bathrooms – anywhere really.

Julie creates each mural as a unique artwork. Once purchased, the mural is gone, as they are not duplicated. Murals are waterproof, rust proof and UV coated. They are suitable for outdoor and indoor use. Each mural is pre-drilled and ready to hang.
She employs an unusual technique when creating murals. Colours in each mural will change depending on the angle of light striking the painting. As the sun moves through your garden through the day, the hues and highlighting will alter accordingly. At night, lights can be placed at different positions to give the desired effect.
